Tobacco may kill 1 billion people in the 21st century. What’s the point, they will die anyway.
It’s cool to fight smoking. We feel like getting involved for a better world. A saner world. Unlike people dying from starvation, wars, pollution, water shortage, despotism, it’s pretty simple to save lives with tobacco. You ban public smoking, you raise tobacco taxes and you go home proud of making the world a better place. Too bad they can’t ban starvation in Africa.
